Renal function tests were done on 38 patients receiving EST. The tests were done one day prior to the first EST and on the day following the third EST. A serum creatinine and routine urinalysis were used for the first 26 patients; a 15-minute PSP test on the last 12 patients. The negative test results indicated the 38 patients suffered no renal damage from EST or that the tests employed were not sensitive enough to detect alterations in renal function or renal blood flow(8).
