To the Editor: We appreciate Dr. Tang’s careful reading of our manuscript. He is correct that Cohen’s cited article was a general report on selected aspects of aging persons with schizophrenia (Cohen, 1995). When commenting on the similarity between our findings and Cohen’s, we should have cited reference 49 in our article, which describes a study that showed high levels of depressive symptoms in older outpatients with schizophrenia and indicated that depressive symptoms were strongly associated with the presence of positive symptoms R1581CIHCECID. We thank Dr. Tang for pointing this out.
