The "Position Statement on the Role of Psychiatrists in Assessing Driving Ability" (May 1995 issue, p. 819) was drafted by the joint Subcommittee on Driving of the Council on Psychiatry and Law and the Council on Aging. Members of the subcommittee were as follows: Jeffrey Metzner, M.D., Sally Godard, M.D., Markku Linnoila, M.D., Ph.D., and Paul Appelbaum, M.D. (representing the Council on Psychiatry and Law); and Donald Hay, M.D., Gabe Maletta, M.D., and Andrew Dentino, M.D. (representing the Council on Aging). The statement was subsequently reviewed, approved, and brought forward as a position statement by both the Council on Psychiatry and Law and the Council on Aging. The members of the Council on Aging were listed with the published position statement.
