Abstract
The authors examined the influence of a history of alcoholism or major depression on smoking cessation for 220 subjects. The success rate of recovering alcoholics was comparable to that of nonalcoholics, comorbidity of alcoholism and major depression exerted a detrimental effect, and smoking cessation did not precipitate an alcoholic relapse.Abstract Teaser
