Ten alcoholic schizophrenic patients, 10 alcoholic patients, and 10
schizophrenic patients were rated on the Hamilton Rating Scale for
Depression at admission to and discharge from a psychiatric hospital. In
all three groups there were statistically significant decreases in
depression scores by the time of discharge. The presentation and resolution
of depressive symptoms in the alcoholic schizophrenic patients closely
resembled that in the alcoholic patients.Abstract Teaser
