The reinstitution of the "internship" requirement by the American Board
of Psychiatry and Neurology resulted in the development of a 4-year
residence by most residency programs. The authors distributed a
questionnaire to more than 200 psychiatry residency directors to collect
data concerning the new "internship" year. Their results indicate that
there is considerable diversity in the content of the "internship" and
general satisfaction with the quality of the experience.Abstract Teaser
