Abstract
The authors interviewed hemodialysis patients, their families, and medical staff and found that some patients preferred dialysis at a medical facility, which allowed them to appear more "normal" before their children. Patients with more social support involved their children in dialysis at home. The author suggests that social support is of primary importance to the outcome of home dialysis and should be considered by physicians in the assessment of patient's suitability for home dialysis.Abstract Teaser
