Because of the confusion in the literature concerning the chemotherapy of delirium tremens, the authors sent questionnaires to selected experienced physicians throughout the nation. Out of 101 useful responses, 86 physicians chose a benzodiazepine as a primary drug of choice. Of these, 64 favored chlordiazepoxide and 22 favored diazepam.
