Abstract
The author describes some aspects of his experience as a member of the National Commission on the Causes and Prevention of Violence, particularly how he and psychiatry in general were regarded by his fellow commissioners, the kinds of anxieties prompted by his presence on the commission, and the roles he, as a psychiatrist, was called upon to play.Abstract Teaser
