The evaluation of general psychiatric skills is a different process from the evaluation of psychotherapeutic skills. Mini-boards, similar in format to the certification procedure of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, test the resident's skill in interviewing a patient as well as his competence in general clinical and other basic areas. The miniboards, or a similar test, are recommended both to evaluate a psychiatric resident's progress and to better prepare him for the certification examination.Abstract Teaser
