Abstract
Effective July 1, 1970, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology will no longer require the completion of an internship as a condition of eligibility for the Board examinations. The author conducted two nationwide surveys related to this issue during the summer of 1969; the results are reported here. The first was addressed to the corresponding officers of 40 state boards of medical examiners (response rate. 100 percent), and the second was addressed to the chairmen of departments of psychiatry in 95 four-year medical schools (response, 90 percent).Abstract Teaser
