Abstract
Four interrelated studies of heroin addicts applying to a methadone maintenance program elicited data on the "typical" patient admitted to the program, a comparison between addicts who were admitted and those who were not accepted to it, and variables associated with discharge from the program as well as those associated with continued drug use. The authors feel the results may aid in refining selection criteria for this kind of program.Abstract Teaser
