Abstract
In the early 1950s it seemed that existentialism was destined to have a major influence upon American psychiatry. The authors assess the important professional changes which have occurred during the last decade and describe existential influences upon these changes. Even though a distinct existential movement has not developed, existential thinkers have contributed substantially to the emerging American psychiatry.Abstract Teaser
