One hundred enuretic children participated in a long-term evaluation of imipramine hydrochloride as a treatment for enuresis. In addition, 20 of these children and their parents were chosen for an intensive social-medical and psychological evaluation. The authors conclude that imipramine hydrochloride is safe and effective in the treatment of enuresis, although beneficial results are not usually dramatic and may occur only after a long period of time. A significant pattern of family interaction and a possible hereditary factor were observed within the families who were intensively studied.Abstract Teaser
