Abstract

The stresses unique to military retirement are described as a growing medical and social problem. in anticipation of or following retirement from the service, the retiree may develop psychiatric symptoms or experience an exacerbation of previously resolved medical problems. The authors stress the importance of early detection and treatment of retirement maladjustment.
