Abstract

1. In a group of 27 chronic schizophrenics chosen randomly, abnormalities in the cerebrospinal fluid protein and gold curve were noted.2. A statistically significant normalizing effect on these indices occurred when the patients were placed on tri-iodothyronine.3. The relationship of the findings to thyroid function has been discussed elsewhere. Decreased metabolism is presumed to be a relating factor.4. Further work in this area seems indicated.
