Abstract
Evidence is presented that the present psychiatric diagnostic categories are inadequate. By selecting homogeneous groups of patients for study, both reclassification and investigation of mental disease can proceed together. The steps necessary to increase homogeneity of samples of patients are outlined and an example given of the application of this method at the Rockland State Hospital.Abstract Teaser
