The occurrence of 43 reports of auditory hallucinations were accompanied by 19 instances of muscle activity to a moderate to marked degree (grades 2 and 3). There were only 4 instances in which the activity was coincident with the report of a hallucination, as indicated in Table 1.[SEE SOURCE PDF FOR TABLE 1.] Although bursts of muscle activity are occasionally seen from muscles of vocalization coinciding with auditory hallucinations reported by psychotic patients, such hallucinations are not consistently accompanied by vocal myographic discharges.Abstract Teaser
